The hand-finishing process

Every piece is different. We take the time to understand the wood, the construction, and the story before we touch it.

Assess

We inspect joinery, veneer, and existing finish, then recommend what the piece truly needs.

Strip & repair

Old finishes are gently removed; loose joints, chips, and water damage are repaired by hand.

Stain & color

Custom-mixed stains or paints, tested on the piece itself so the color is right.

Hand-finish

Multiple coats of hand-rubbed oil, lacquer, or durable topcoat, sanded between every layer.

Low-VOC strippers, oil- and water-based stains, hardwax oils, catalyzed lacquers, and premium furniture paints — chosen for durability, depth of color, and how they age in a real home.
